Damascus Steel is made by forging & folding together hundreds of layers of hard & soft steel, and then etching them with acid. The acid dissolves the layers at different rates resulting in a visible pattern on the steel. The alternating layers give more flexibility & toughness to the steel, and the hard & soft in the edge act much like micro-serrations that aid cutting. The handle is Bog Oak Wood with a Round Nickel Silver Boker Inlay shield. The bolsters are highly polished Nickel Silver. This magnificent piece is 5 1/4 inches long(closed for folding knives) and weighs approximately 4.2 ounces.
