Boker Barlow Prime Tirpitz-Damascus – Micarta & Walnut Wood Handle / 200 Layered Damascus 117942DAM. Description: The huge interest in our exceptional Boker Tirpitz-Damast over the years has convinced us to design another model supplied with the historic damascus steel. The Boker Barlow Prime Tirpitz Damascus, which is much more compact than the original model, is not only convincing in the collector’s showcase, but also as a gentleman’s knife suitable for a pocket. The blade is made of the unique Tirpitz Damascus, is supplied with a modern, elongated ricasso and opens with a nail nick. Norwegian divers recovered parts of the Tirpitz’s special armour from the fjord for Boker. From these pieces of living history, the Boker damascus smith exclusively forges an extraordinary damascus supplied with fascinating history. The Great Pyramid pattern in 200 layers distinguishes the hand-forged Damascus blade and makes the knife a highlight of any knife collection. However, the combination of Tirpitz steel with carbon tool steels also results in an extremely durable Damascus that, with a Rockwell hardness of 61 to 63 HRC, is up to any task in everyday use. The operating safety of the history-steeped slipjoint pocket knife is further enhanced by a 90-degree locking mechanism when opening and closing. The characteristic drop shape of the Barlow can be traced back to the English pocket knives of the 17th century, which certainly makes it one of the oldest models ever. There they immediately enjoyed great popularity and so the first Barlow models also appeared in the history of the Boker Manuactory in Solingen at the end of the 19th century. This integral version of the timeless classic with a contoured handle body made of black micarta, which is milled from the solid and also forms the characteristic bolsters of the Barlow. Thanks to the likewise contoured handle scales made of domestic walnut wood, the unique gentleman’s knife lies extremely comfortably in the hand. The decorative rivets are made of nickel silver, the blade axle screw of stainless steel. Supplied with a high-quality felt case for storage. Handmade in the Boker Knife Manufactory in Solingen. The attention to detail on the Sherman Damascus Knife is incredible. The unique Damascus is hand forged by Chad Nichols, and the pattern is a custom “Ladder” reminiscent of the tracks left on the ground by these remarkable tanks. The ball bearing blade is opened using a thumb stud and locked with a solid steel frame lock, and a Hinderer Lock-Stop acts as overstretch protection for the lock. The shape of this unique piece was designed to pay tribute to the lines of the armor of the Sherman Tank, and the decorative blade axle screw resembles the main drive sprocket wheel. The jute Micarta handle, angled slightly to rest comfortably in your hand, is the color of a combination of the camouflage paint used by both the US Army and the Marine Corps of the time.
