The steel is produced through a process of stacking layers of erosive and non-erosive material over a VG-10 core center. The erosive layers are hard martensite stainless steel and the non-erosive layers are anti-corrosion nonferrous metal. These layers block carbon particles in the core from spreading to the outer layers. After layering the blade is forged to intentionally distort the layer-lines making. A complicated, artistically beautiful pattern called Suminagashi. Suminagashi is the traditional Japanese art form of creating ripples of Chinese ink on the surface of water. This steel mimics the art form with interesting results on a knife blade. Once the layers are distorted, the blade is bathed in acid etching the pattern to vivid relief. The result is an elegant swirled pattern steel that is superbly functional and highly attractive. The folders titanium bolsters are blue-colored complementing the blue-colored jigged-bone handle scales. Mid-positioned on the knifes spine is a back lock featuring a cut-away David Boye Dent for added safely and a piped lanyard easily accepts a thong or cord for secondary attachment. For your consideration, a 2010 Limited Edition Buck 110 new in the box. This knife was created by Buck Custom Knife Maker Jeff Legerton. His signature appears on the Certificate of Authenticity (COA), and on the wood display box. Only 110 of these knives were made, and this one is serial number 099 of 110. The frame is nickel, and the bolsters are scroll engraved. The scales are Paua Shell, and the blade is Teardrop Damascus. The wood and glass display box is perfect. I think the 2010 Paua Shell is the only knife to have the slim pencil box style display case, with a glass top. To my knowledge all the other wood boxes of that style and size were all wood with no glass. The COA is pristine, and matches the knife. An absolutely complete collector quality Limited Edition Buck 110. The knife and all components are in new condition. The knife has never been used carried or sharpened. My asking price is only what I have invested in it, which I think is a very fair price. The knife has been in my personal collection since 2017, and now someone else will be able to enjoy it. No disappointments with this set, it is very difficult to find complete and in this condition.
