The blade is Damascus Steel etched with “Tirpitz Damast” on one side, “Boker Solingen 300 Lagen” on the other and features dual thumb studs. The combination of the Tirpitz Battleship steel and carbon tool steels creates an extremely rugged Damascus steel which has a hardness of 60¡ HRC and can handle any cutting task with ease. The pattern “Great Pyramids”, with more than 300 layers, adorns the mighty 4 blade and makes this piece the highlight of any collection. The handle is AlMgSi1 Aluminum with a Walnut Wood inlay with Tirpitz and Crest etching and a reversible pocket clip for tip-up or tip-down carry. This magnificent piece is 5 1/8 inches long(closed for folding knives) and weighs approximately 6.0 ounces. This knife is presented in a Wooden Display Box and Certificate of Authenticity. After being sunken by the Brisith Royal Air Force in 1944, a Norwegian specialty company retrieved parts of the Tirpitz which are made of a special alloyed steel. This is a rare, handmade, slip-joint folding knife made by Rick Nowland. It is in excellent condition. Rick began making knives in 1986, and at that time they consisted of fixed blade knives. He started making slip-joint folders in 1995, and today that is his specialty. The blade is Damascus, and is in unused condition. The handle is Mokume Gane, with reddish brown and blue tints. The blade opens with a nail nick. It has a half-stop. And it closes with a loud snap. It locks up tight, with only the slightest hint of lateral play – if you really try hard. The handle is only 0.21 thick, making this a great gentlemen’s carry. It will come in a carrying case or pouch for storage.
