A gorgeous folding knife “Kasatka” (translated: Orca / Killer Whale) by Russian knife maker Alexander Cheburkov. Handle is a rich timascus and the blade is damascus and signed by the maker. Lockup is extremely solid and centered. Flipping action is smooth with a satisfying “heavy” feel given the bulk of the knife. Copper laced carbon fiber inlays line the front side of the handle and are also found as a backspacer. The backspacer also has glow-in-the-dark accents in the carbon fiber because it wasn’t fancy enough without them. Hardware is custom and anodized to match the handle. There is a lanyard hole near the backspacer going through the front scale, but it’s doubtful you would be using it since it comes with a custom-fitted black leather sheath branded with the Cheburkov logo. Also included is the documentation received with it (which I always assumed said some very nice things about it in Russian, which I cannot read) and the custom tool used for pivot adjustment. And last but not least, a little silver? Pin of a boar that was originally received with it and I assume is related but not hugely important. I cannot verify it’s actually silver so for now I’ll say it’s silver-colored. I’m not sure anyone cares about this. It’s cliched to say, but the photos don’t really do it justice. I’m not a photographer and I don’t own a camera that can accurately reproduce all of the vibrant hues of timascus, so you’ll have to use a little imagination, though what you see is very close. The knife is in new condition, having almost exclusively been handled with gloves and has spent most of its time in a display case or in a safe. Build quality is easily on par with Shirogorov or any other high-end Russian knife artist in my opinion. I don’t have a metric ruler and cannot remember the exact dimensions so take the following (via tape measurer) with a grain of salt if you care about to-the-millimeter precision measurement. Blade – 4 3/8″ (maybe 5/16″). Open – 9 15/16. Closed – 5 5/8. Width (minus clip) – 11/16. Just make sure to choose whichever option best suits your needs. If you have any further questions or there is anything you need to know before purchasing, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time and I’ll get back to you within a day or less. You are receiving exactly what is shown in the photographs. The item “Cheburkov Kasatka Timascus and Damascus Custom Flipper Folding Knife” is in sale since Wednesday, January 24, 2018.
