Unlike the traditional, single pivot pin pocket knives this pivot open from the side of the grip, on a hinge pin. The blade can pivot a full 360 degrees for ambidextrous use so you can open and close the blade on both directions. One nice thing about this design is that it is much, much slimmer than the regular edge open design. Side openers like this consist of the blade, a small lock, and just enough additional material around the blade, to protect the blade when closed and provide a handle/grip area. When closed the damascus stainless steel frame is a 100% effective blade guard; when open it is a minimal but very usable handle. This knife has been totally handcrafted and realized custom in a full damascus version. Blade is very sharp and cuts like a razor.
