I believe in sole authorship and I stand behind my knives 100%. All of my knives are handmade 1 at a time. Forge welding the damascus billets, patterning and shaping the blades is performed solely by myself to ensure the finest quality control. I’ve spent a lot of time and resources researching and testing for proper heat treatment of my blades and I can guarantee that they are heat treated to perform to the best of their abilities for which they were intended. I select only the best natural handle materials available at the time. I have no “get by” factor. It’s either the very best or it’s not used. My knives, are just that, made by me down to the smallest detail. On occasion I will allow other qualified artists to perform engraving or scrimshaw work on my knives. CUSTOM FOLDING BOWIE BY MARC NEVLING’S BURR OAK KNIVES. I commissioned this luxurious custom liner-lock clip-point bowie for my own personal collection directly from Mark Nevling of Burr Oak Knives in April of 2016. This knife is NEW and was never used. The blade was never resharpened or recontoured. It was kept as part of a collection in its original lined zippered pouch it came with. BLADE is clip-point Bowie 3.75″ long and about 1.5″ wide, with slight recurve, full width flat grind with still original (shop-sharpened by Marc) secondary edge. Metallurgically, the blade is a three-layered hand-forged San-Mae with edge inner-layer of D2 steel. The blade is 1/16 thick at spine, with hand-filed decoration that matches similarly decorated titanium flame-colored liners. Blade has one-sided stud for right-handed opening. ACTION is butter smooth yet deliberate and firm, like a Mercedes G-Wagen door. This is NOT a flipper, as there is nothing loosely goosey about action. HANDLE: The handle scales are made of oiled beautifully “figured” burled desert ironwood that comes into its own under direct sunlight with an almost three-dimensional luster! The quality of wood in the scales is reminiscent of the finest Purdey shotgun stock. Thick bolsters are carved out of hand-forged bronze Damascus mokume. Bronze-colored (flame-colored) titanium liners are elaborately hand-filed throughout and complete the package of outmost handmade luxury. Overall, the handle is gently contoured for superb ergonomics, and is 5/8 about 16mm!! The handle sports a (removable) bronze-anodized clip for right-handed point-up pocket carry, as well as an original leather lanyard (braded by Marc), attached to an integral and fully internal lanyard stud. Due to through-bolt construction, the entire knife can be easily disassembled for servicing and adjustment. This is a large, solid-feeling, rich-looking, bold, and weighty at 11 ounces! Tank of a knife with lots of presence and performance! This knife is NOT for small-handed or weak-spirited! Given the knife’s uniquely robust and burly even sinister aesthetic, its custom nature and the “new” condition, I believe my asking price is reasonable. The sale is only for within the United States.
