The acid dissolves the layers at different rates resulting in a visible pattern on the steel. The alternating layers give more flexibility & toughness to the steel, and the hard & soft in the edge act much like micro-serrations that aid cutting. The handle is Carbon Fiber, Black G10 and Stainless Steel with a reversible tip-up pocket clip.
